Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, Search for Escapee

(Richmond, KY) - On Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 10:34 EDT the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was contacted by the Madison County 911 Center concerning a state prisoner who had walked away from the Bluegrass Development Center on Recycle Drive in Richmond, KY.

Troopers responded to the area and assisted the Richmond Police Department in searching for the escapee. The Sherman Williams factory and local schools were placed on lock-down. Lexington Metro Police assisted with helicopter support and KSP K-9's were called in to assist but the escapee was not located.

Russell Allen Helm, 33 years old, 6'00", 160 pounds with short hair and a goatee was last seen wearing gray sweat pants and a dark colored shirt. Helm is a state inmate convicted of drug charges with previous addresses in Worthville and Milton, Kentucky.

Trooper Albert Lagrange is the investigating officer.
