(Richmond, KY) -- Children from the counties of Madison, Lincoln, Jackson, Garrard, Boyle, Clark, Jessamine and Lee recently attended Trooper Island Camp located on Dale Hollow Lake in South-Central Kentucky. The children spent the week of July 2 – 6 at Trooper Island while having the opportunity to relax and have fun participating in all types of camp activities. The children were able to participate in such activities as archery, firearms safety & marksmanship, canoeing, swimming, fishing, nature classes, and more. The campers were able to experience Trooper Island at no cost to their families. Trooper Island is a non-profit organization started in 1965 to invest in the youth of Kentucky that operates solely on private contributions. The children were treated to a fireworks show on the 4th courtesy of B&B Fireworks, Bluegrass Fireworks, Clower's Carpet and Roy Todd Builders. High Bridge Springs, Jade Enterprises, Fillups Gas and Grocery and Save-A-Lot provided water and drinks for the children during the summer camp.
If you are interested in sending a child to Trooper Island applications are accepted during the spring of each year. More information is available at kentuckystatepolice.org/island.
