6 Year Old Killed in a Vehicle Collision

(Richmond, KY) - On Friday, June 22, 2012 at 10:36 p.m. EDT the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was contacted about a serious collision on Simpson Road in Northern Madison County.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan Maxima operated by Richard Pojeky and occupied by a 6 year old male was headed south on Simpson Lane and was turning left onto Walnut Grove Road. A 1995 Ford Truck operated by Lewis Cole Jr. was headed north on Simpson Lane and turning right onto Walnut Grove Road. The Nissan Maxima turned into the path of the Ford Truck and was struck in the passenger side.

All occupants were using seat belts at the time of the collision.

Richard Pojeky, 43 years old of Walnut Grove, Richmond had possible injuries to the chest.

Lewis Cole Jr, 25 years old of Villa Drive, Richmond was not injured.

The 6 year old male was transported from the scene to University of Kentucky Hospital and was pronounced deceased by the Fayette County Coroners office.

Detective Chris Short is the investigating officer.
