One Killed in a Single Vehicle Collision on Gooch Pike in Garrard County

(Lancaster, KY) On Thursday, May 24, 2012, at 10:15 p.m. EDT the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was contacted by the Garrard County 911 Center concerning a wreck on Gooch Pike. Trooper Darrell Hutchison responded to the scene and began his investigation.

Preliminary investigation indicates Micah Shearer was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup northbound on Gooch Pike. Mr. Shearer failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the shoulder of the roadway and lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle overturned twice ejecting the driver and the two passengers. No seatbelts were in use at the time of the collision.

Micah Shearer, age 37 of Gaffney Road in Crab Orchard, KY was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Garrard County Coroner.

Alexandra Arce, age 26 of Madison View Road in Berea, KY was transported to Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville for non-life Threatening injuries.

Christopher Linville, age 21 of Mt Vernon Road in Berea, KY was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Trooper Hutchison was assisted at the scene by the Garrard County Sheriffs Department, Garrard County EMS and the Garrard County Coroners office.
