Kentucky State Police Make Felony Arrest in Owsley County

(Booneville, KY) -- On Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 9:38 am EST the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was contacted about a domestic violence assault on Tommy Calahan Road in Owsley County. Trooper Jarrod Smith was dispatched to the scene and attempted to make contact with the suspect, Jessie Bowling. Prior to Trooper Smith's arrival the suspect allegedly used his vehicle to damage another vehicle parked at the residence. Trooper Smith found Mr. Bowling in the woods near the area of the initial complaint. Mr. Bowling refused to comply with the officers directions and fled on foot into the victim's residence. Mr Bowling was apprehended after a physical altercation with Trooper Smith. Trooper Smith was assisted at the scene by Trooper Josh Wilson, Kentucky State Police, London Post.

Jessie C. Bowling, 20 years old, of Manchester, KY was charged with Assault 3rd Degree (Police Officer), Fleeing or Evading 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs/Alcohol 4th Offense, Resisting Arrest, Menacing, No Operators License, Failure to Register Motor Vehicle, Giving False Name or Address to Police Officer and lodged in the Three Forks Regional Jail.

Trooper Smith received minor injuries from the altercation and was treated and released from the Manchester Memorial Hospital.
