Fatal Collision on US 150 in Lincoln County

(Crab Orchard, KY) -- On Friday April 13, 2012 at 10:00 am EST Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, was contacted by the Bluegrass 911 Center, which provides emergency dispatch services for Lincoln County, to investigate an injury collision on US 150 in the Crab Orchard community. Trooper Eric Taylor responded to the scene and began his investigation.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck, operated by James Layton, was traveling west on US 150. The vehicle went onto the right shoulder of the road. The operator overcorrected, traveled across both lanes, onto the east bound shoulder and overturned.

James Layton, 51 years old of Manchester, KY was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lincoln County Deputy Coroner, Donnie Gilliam.

Trooper Taylor is the investigating officer and was assisted at the scene by the Lincoln County Sheriffs Department, East End ambulance service and Lincoln County Fire Stations 1 and 6.
