Armed Robbery at Burgin Post Office

(Burgin, KY) -- On Friday April 13, 2012 at 1:10 pm EST Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, was contacted by the Mercer County 911 Center, to investigate an armed robbery that occurred at the Burgin Post Office. Kentucky State Police personnel arrived on the scene and began the investigation.
Preliminary investigation indicates a white male wearing a camouflage sweat shirt and a mask entered the Burgin Post Office brandishing a pistol. The unidentified male assaulted the clerk and fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Witnesses stated he left the area in a green full size pickup truck headed toward Danville, KY.
The victim was transported to Haggin Hospital for scalp lacerations and a broken jaw.
Detective Rodney Wren is the investigating officer and was assisted at the scene by the Burgin Police Department, Mercer County Sheriffs Department, Danville Police Department and US Postal Inspectors.
