Date of News Release: 03/01/2012

(Richmond, KY) -- On Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 8:19 am EST Kentucky State Police Richmond Post Trooper Anthony Trotter was contacted by a motorist on I-64 in Clark County about a black SUV traveling east in the west bound lanes of the interstate. Trooper Trotter located a black Cadillac Escalade operated by Andrew Gant Jr, facing east partially blocking the west bound slow lane. Trooper Trotter attempted to have the operator exit the vehicle during which time the driver fled the scene in the vehicle, traveling against the flow of traffic. Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement Officer Blake Moore was able to position his vehicle in front of the fleeing vehicle and deployed a tire deflation device which was successful in flattening some of the vehicles tires. The fleeing vehicle almost struck several vehicles during the pursuit in the west bound lanes. The Cadillac crossed the median into the east bound lanes where it struck a vehicle operated by Shelby Marshall and continued on. Trooper Trotter performed a Pursuit Intervention Technique maneuver which disabled the fleeing vehicle.
