KSP Investigate Officer Involved Injury Collision in Irvine, KY

(Irvine, KY) -- On Monday February 27, 2012 at 2:26 am EST Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was contacted by the Estill County 911 dispatch center, to request that KSP investigate a collision involving Irvine Police Department Officer James Gross and George Davis. Trooper First Class Toby Coyle responded to KY 52 / Richmond Road where the collision occurred and began his investigation.

George Davis, 20 years old of Irvine, KY, was traveling west on KY 52 in a 2003 Suzuki passenger vehicle. Officer James Gross was facing south on KY 499 when his vehicle was side swiped when the vehicle operated by George Davis turned onto KY 499.

Officer Gross was transported to Marcum Wallace hospital where he was treated and released.

George Davis was not injured in the collision.

George Davis was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence (First Offense, Aggravating Circumstances), Reckless Driving and Wanton Endangerment (First Degree, Police Officer).

The collision is being investigated by Trooper First Class Toby Coyle.
