Kentucky State Police Investigate Injury Collision with School Bus

(Madison County, KY) -- On Monday January 9, 2011 at 3:44 pm EST the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was contacted to investigate an injury collision involving a Madison County school bus at the intersection of Brassfield Road and Gumbottom Road. Trooper Michael Keeton arrived on the scene and determined that the school bus, operated by Charles Kirby of Waco, came to a stop on Brassfield Road and was turning onto Gumbottom Road. A silver passenger car, operated by Jonathon Matney of Waco, was traveling behind the school bus and struck the bus when it slowed to turn.

None of the occupants of the school bus reported any injuries.

The operator and passenger of the silver passenger vehicle both suffered minor injuries but refused treatment.

Jonathon Matney, 32 years old, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs 1st offense and 34 charges of Wanton Endangerment (Felony). One count for each person in the school bus (1 Adult, 32 children) and one count for the passenger in his vehicle.

Trooper Michael Keeton is the investigating officer.
