'Shop with a Trooper' Helps 29 Local Children
Date of News Release: 12/21/2012
(LaGrange, KY) -– State Troopers recently spent the day with children from the counties of Oldham, Henry, Trimble, Carroll, Gallatin, and Owen during Post 5's annual ‘Shop with a Trooper' program over the weekend. KSP's 'Shop with a Trooper' program is an initiative providing Troopers an opportunity to impact the lives of children in need during holiday season, while providing children a chance to have positive interaction with State Troopers.
Troopers headed out in local communities early Saturday morning (12/15) to pick-up 29 area children identified in need. The children were taken to Post 5 located in Campbellsburg for a pancake breakfast with Santa Claus.
Following breakfast, the children were taken by Troopers for a day of shopping at Wal-Mart in LaGrange. Children were able to enjoy the company of State Troopers as they shopped for toys to fulfill their wish lists, while also getting much needed clothing. After filling their carts at Wal-Mart, the children returned to Post 5 for a lunch provided by Snappy Tomato Pizza. Children were returned to their homes that afternoon with their new gifts and smiling faces.
The success of the program was made possible due to the many businesses and merchants in the Post 5 area donating money and items to the program.
