Two Vehicle Crash in Gallatin County Kills One Person

(Warsaw, KY) – A two vehicle crash in Gallatin County has killed one person and injured three others. Gallatin County dispatch received a call of a crash on US 42 approximately two miles east of Warsaw at 7:36 a.m. Kentucky State Police Post 5 was contacted at 7:47 a.m. and Troopers responded to the scene. Preliminary investigation shows that Maria Miller, 26 years old from Warsaw, KY, was travelling west on US 42 with her two children when the child in the back seat of the vehicle got out of the seatbelt and stood up. Miller turned to get the child to sit down and her vehicle crossed the center line of the roadway. Miller's vehicle collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Joseph Gripshover, 30 years old from Warsaw, KY. Gripshover, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Gallatin County Coroner. Miller was transported by Gallatin County EMS to the University of Cincinnati Hospital where she is in stable condition. One child was flown by PHI, Inc. and one was transported by Gallatin County EMS to the University of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Both children are in stable condition.
Trooper Brandon Maupin, an accident reconstructionist, is leading the ongoing investigation. Trooper Maupin was assisted at the scene by the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, Gallatin County Fire Department, Gallatin County EMS, and Glencoe Fire Department.
