Date of News Release: 07/28/2012

(Bedford, KY) A motorcyclist was killed last night (7/27) in a crash on Highway 42 in Trimble County. Dispatchers at Post 5 received a call at 8:22 p.m. from concerned family members when the driver, James Busey (61 years old from Bedford, KY), had not returned after leaving his home approximately four hours earlier. Troopers and family members began searching for Busey. Post 5 dispatchers received another call at 9:38 p.m. when Busey was found unresponsive near the intersection of Highway 42 and Latta Road. Preliminary investigation shows that Busey was traveling east on Highway 42 when his motorcycle left the roadway in a curve, travelled over 200 feet, and crashed. Wet road conditions was a factor in the crash. Busey was pronounced dead at the scene by the Trimble County Coroner.

Trooper Jim Phelps is leading the ongoing investigation. Trooper Phelps was assisted at the scene by the Bedford Fire Department, Milton Fire Department, and Trimble County EMS.
