Pursuit Leads To Felony Arrest And Confiscation Of Several Pounds Of Marijuana

Date of News Release: 11/09/2012

(BARDSTOWN, KY) - On Thursday November 8, 2012 at approximately 2:40 p.m. ET Tpr. Kevin Davis attempted to stop a 2013 Chevrolet Impala for careless driving on the Bluegrass Parkway near the 16 mile marker. The suspect, 31-year-old Travis McGee from Hopkinsville, KY initially stopped for Tpr. Davis and gave him his driver's license, registration and insurance card, but sped away when he was asked to step out of the vehicle. McGee continued west at a high rate of speed and refused to stop for Tpr. Davis. Post 4 Units and K-9 Troopers attempted to intercept the vehicle by laying spike strips across the parkway but McGee saw them, stopped, exited his vehicle and surrendered without further incident.

K-9's were utilized and they indicated the presence of drugs inside the vehicle McGee was driving. Troopers confiscated approximately 3 pounds of marijuana, cash, and other evidence consistent with drug trafficking from the Impala. McGee was charged with Fleeing or Evading 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Trafficking in Marijuana Under 5 lbs., Tampering With Physical Evidence, Speeding and Careless Driving. He was lodged in the Nelson County Detention Center and the investigation is ongoing.
