Nelson County Deputy Shoots Suspect Then Tries To Save His Life

(NEW HAVEN, KY) -- On Thursday, August 30, 2012 at approximately 2:57 p.m. ET KSP Troopers responded to 2125 Monks Road in New Haven in Nelson County to backup a Nelson County Deputy requesting assistance. Through investigation it was learned that the Deputy responded to that address on a property dispute complaint. Upon the Deputy's arrival he was met on the porch by 61-year-old John Hagan, who pointed a gun at the him. The deputy fired one time striking Hagan in the right upper torso. The deputy then secured the weapon and administered CPR until EMS arrived. Hagan is listed in critical condition at University Hospital in Louisville. Per request of the Nelson County Sheriff, the Kentucky State Police is handling the ongoing investigation.
