(CLARKSON, KY) – On Monday, July 23, 2012 at approximately 2:00 p.m. CT Kerry White presented a check for $2,611.00 to MTPR Norman Chaffins of the Kentucky State Police. White is one of the three trustees overseeing the Dennis and Cindy Higdon reward money account that was initially earmarked for the arrest and conviction of the suspects that burglarized the Higdon home while they were away at their son's funeral. Since there were no credible tips by the public that led to the arrests, the Higdons decided to donate it to Trooper Island and/or Post 4's Shop With A Trooper program.

Higdon said, "When I was approached and asked what I wanted to do with the money, I said that I could not think of more appropriate and deserving organization than the Kentucky State Police's Trooper Island or their Shop With A Trooper program. It was decided right away what we would do with the money. We are so very thankful for what KSP did for us."

Although we did not have anything to do with the Higdon's decision, we at Post 4 are very humbled and appreciative to receive the donation. According to Kerry White, the money was donated by family, friends, church members, and concerned citizens. The idea to start the reward account was from a neighbor of the Higdon’s, Russell Hackley. The money donated will benefit kids from right here in Grayson County.
