Multiple Charges Filed In DUI Related Crash In Grayson County

(LEITCHFIELD, KY) – On Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at approximately 4:00 p.m. Post 4 Trooper Brad Riley responded to an injury collision on KY 54 approximately 1.5 miles west of Leitchfield. Tpr. Riley's investigation revealed that 23-year-old Dustin Haycraft of Leitchfield was operating a 2002 Kia and was eastbound on KY 54 when he ran off the right shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Haycraft overcorrected and caused the vehicle to exit off the left shoulder of the road. The Kia struck a fence and then a utility pole. Mr. Haycraft and his 31-year-old passenger Amy Wells of Leitchfield both sustained injuries and neither one was wearing a seatbelt. They were both transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center where Mr. Haycraft was later transported to University of Louisville for treatment of serious injuries. Mr. Haycraft was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 2nd Offense W/ Aggravating Factors, No Insurance 1st Offense, Failure to Wear Seat Belt, and Violation of a KY EPO/DVO. Ms. Wells was cited for Violation of a KY EPO/DVO and Alcohol Intoxication. Tpr. Riley was assisted at the scene by the Grayson County Sheriff's Department, the Leitchfield Fire Department, and Warren Rural Electric Cooperative.
