Thieves Burglarize Home While Family
Attends Murdered Son's Funeral

Date of News Release: 06/20/2012

(CLARKSON, KY) On Wednesday, June 20, 2012 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. CT thieves broke into the home of Dennis and Cindy Higdon of Higdon Road in Clarkson. The Higdon's son, Christian Higdon, was murdered on Saturday, June 16, 2012. They were attending the visitation, funeral, and burial of their son when their home was broken into, ransacked, and several items stolen from inside. It is believed that the perpetrators knew the entire family would be at the funeral during the time of the burglary. It was held at Rogers Funeral Home in Clarkson with the burial at St. Benedict Cemetery in Wax, KY.

The thieves made off a jewelry box containing several necklaces and rings, 4 long guns (Thompson Center single shot Mach III rifle, Iticha 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun, 20-gauge double barrel shotgun-unknown make, and a Charter Arms .223 rifle with a mounted scope), 2-Milwaukee brand hammer drills, a Garmin GPS, 3 Toshiba laptop computers with one charging cable, an Xbox 360 Kinect, a Nintendo Wii game console, and a few hundred dollars in loose change and silver half dollars.

At this time KSP has no known suspects, but we are requesting the community's help in bringing these 'low lifes' to justice. Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to call the Kentucky State Police Post in Elizabethtown at (270) 766-5078 or (800) 222-5555. The investigation is ongoing and Det. Ryan Johnson is investigating.
