Post 4 Asks For Your Help In Solving Theft Problem

Date of News Release: 06/14/2012

(ELIZABETHTOWN, KY) Over the course of the past 2 months, Post 4 Troopers have received numerous theft complaints from residents in subdivisions located along US 62 and Tunnel Hill Road near Lincoln Trail Elementary School in Hardin County. These incidents have all involved perpetrators entering unlocked vehicles during late evening and early morning hours. The perpetrators steal cash, GPS's, car stereos, and any other valuable item they can get their hands on. The suspects have not been identified but are believed to be juveniles.

We are conducting saturation patrols and conducting traffic stops during these hours in an attempt to curb some of the thefts. There are also some things the public can do to help.

First, lock your vehicles when you are not in them. Next, secure the above mentioned items and any other valuables in your home or someplace not visible to thieves. If you notice suspicious behavior or individuals in your neighborhood take note of their clothing, get a vehicle description or even a license plate number and report it to KSP as soon as possible. DO NOT attempt to follow or confront them yourselves. You may report suspicious behavior by calling (270) 766-5078 or 1 (800) 222-5555.
