New Haven Man Crashes Motorcycle In An Attempt To Flee From Trooper

(HODGENVILLE, KY) - On Sunday, June 10, 2012 at approximately 7:33 p.m. Tpr. John Adams clocked a Yamaha motorcycle at 102 mph in a 55 zone on US31E about 8 miles north of Hodgenville. Tpr. Adams turned on the vehicle and observed the motorcycle pass two vehicles at a high rate of speed. When it was safe to do so Tpr. Adams passed the same two vehicles and drove up on the crashed Yamaha. The driver lost control and struck an earth embankment. Tpr. Adams administered first aid to the rider and awaited the arrival of Larue County Fire and Rescue and EMS. The rider, 19 year-old Austin P. McMahan of New Haven suffered serious life threatening injuries and was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital where he was later airlifted to U of K Hospital in Lexington. McMahan will face charges once he is released from the hospital. This case will be presented to the Larue County Commonwealth Attorney's Office.
