Arrest of a Former Grayson County Sheriff's Deputy For Hindering Prosecution/Apprehension

(ELIZABETHTOWN, KY) Former Grayson County Sheriff's Deputy, 48 year old Terry Blanton, was arrested today (04/26/12) at approximately 1:42 p.m. ET at his residence in the Smith's Grove community of Edmonson County. The arrest stems from an arrest warrant taken by KSP for Hindering Prosecution/Apprehension 2nd Degree. It is alleged in the warrant that Blanton rendered assistance with the intent to hinder the apprehension of a female who was being sought for the commission of a criminal offense. Hindering Prosecution/Apprehension 2nd Degree is a Class A Misdemeanor punishable with up to one year in jail if convicted. Blanton had been employed with the Grayson County Sheriff's Department for nearly eight years and has close to 20 years of law enforcement experience. He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center. This case has been turned over to the Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations West (DE/SI West) branch of the Kentucky State Police. The investigation is ongoing.
