Date of News Release: 04/15/2012
(Elizabethtown, KY) -- On Saturday, April 14, 2012 at approximately 2:02 p.m. ET KSP Post 4 received a call of an injury crash around the 121 mile marker on the Western Kentucky Parkway in Hardin County. Tpr. Justin Spears reported that a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle, driven by 28 year-old Brandon M. Adams, from Cecilia, KY, was westbound and attempted to make an illegal U-turn on the WK Parkway. Adams lost control of his motorcycle as he made the turn and entered the path of a 1997 Chevrolet C1500 that was eastbound on the WK Parkway. The C1500 was driven by Jerry Purdy, 52, from Henderson, KY. Adams struck the C1500 in the right hand lane on the eastbound side of the Parkway. Both vehicles slid several feet before coming to final rest in the eastbound emergency lane. Adams was partially lodged under the front bumper of the C1500. Adams suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital. All five passengers in the Purdy vehicle were properly restrained and no one was injured. Adams was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. KSP was assisted at the scene by the Hardin County EMS, the White Mills Volunteer Fire Dept., Air Methods, and Code 3 Images.
