Pursuit That Started In Jefferson County Ends In Louisville

(Elizabethtown, KY) -- On April 2, 2012 at approximately 12:28 am ET the Kentucky State Police in Elizabethtown received a request for assistance from the Louisville Metro Police Dept. Metro was in pursuit of a stolen 1991 Jeep Cherokee that was headed toward Hardin County on US31W. The pursuit started on Gene Snyder Freeway and KSP was notified as they were approaching West Point in Hardin County. The pursuit continued into Meade County where the Meade County Sheriff's Office successfully deployed a tire deflation device near the intersection of US31W and KY 1638. The Cherokee turned onto US 60 and then to KY 144 and KY 448. At approximately 12:45 am KSP Post 4 received a request from MetroSafe to let KSP take lead in the pursuit. KSP units were able to box-in the vehicle and slow the Cherokee to a stop at which time the pursuit ended. A 17-year-old Louisville juvenile was placed into custody without further incident. He was turned over to Metro authorities. The pursuit went for approximately 27 miles through Jefferson, Meade, and Hardin Counties. There were no injuries and no state equipment or vehicles were damaged in the pursuit.
