Injury Crash at US31W and KY 84 in Sonora in Hardin County

(Sonora, KY) -- At approximately 3:17 pm a 10 year-old was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash at US31W and KY 84 in Sonora in Hardin County. A 1999 GMC Jimmy operated by 41 year-old Gustavo Salinas from Louisville, KY was eastbound on KY 84. Unit 2, a 1993 Peterbilt dump truck operated by 58 year-old Marion Enlow from Elizabethtown, KY was northbound on US31W. Mr. Salinas' vehicle for unknown reasons pulled into the intersection and into the path of the dump truck which had the right of way. Mr. Enlow's vehicle struck the Mr. Salinas' vehicle in the passenger's side rear. Mr. Salinas and a passenger, 34 year-old Margarita Salinas of Louisville, KY were belted and suffered Class C injuries (minor) and were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by the Hardin County EMS. A third passenger, 10 year-old Ruby Salinas who was also belted suffered critical life threatening injuries and was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to Kosair's Children's Hospital in Louisville. The driver of the dump truck was also transported to HMH with minor injuries. A third vehicle, a 2006 Dodge Charger was struck by debris but the driver was uninjured. The occupants in the Mr. Salinas' vehicle were husband, wife, and daughter.
