Injury Collision on I-65 in Hardin County

(Elizabethtown, KY) -- At 11:37 am EST on February 12, 2012, Kentucky State Police Post 4 investigated an injury collision on Interstate 65 at the 97 mile marker, 3 miles north of Elizabethtown. A 1985 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck, operated by Ben Banks (age 64, of Marion, IN), was traveling southbound on Interstate 65 when the vehicle for unknown reasons left the right shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle first struck a large rock before colliding with a rock embankment. The S-10 came to final rest facing a westward direction. The driver was transported by Hardin County EMS to Hardin Memorial Hospital for treatment and later transported to University of Louisville by air ambulance. The investigation into this crash was conducted by Trooper Scotty R. Sharp. He was assisted at the scene by Trooper Jack Baumgardner, Trooper Brian Mouser and Trooper Justin Spears.
