5 Injured in a Collision on I-65

(Bowling Green, KY) -- On December, 29 2012, at approximately 7:44 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 received the report of a collision on I-65 Northbound, near the 68 mile marker. Roberto Diaz (31) of Nashville, TN, was operating a 2006 Toyota Sienna mini-van, when he was struck in the rear by a 2007 Kia Sorrento SUV, being operated by Jermaine Collier (39) of Avon, IN.

Upon impact, Diaz' vehicle went into a skid and traveled off of the right hand side of the roadway and entered a ditch. Collier's vehicle traveled across the left hand, Northbound lane, where it struck and drove upon the concrete barrier wall. There were six other passengers in Diaz' vehicle, five of which were transported to the Caverna Memorial Hospital.

These passengers include: Hector Yanez (32), Janet Yanez (29), Abigail Yanez (10), Bridget Yanez (8) and Angeline Yanez (3), all of Nashville TN. They were treated and released for minor injuries. Collier was evaluated on scene, but refused transport.

Trooper Wes Medley was assisted on scene by the Hart County EMS, Munfordville Fire Department, Stanton's Towing and R&B Towing.
