Injury Collision on Old Dixie Road

(Bowling Green, KY) -- On the evening of November 09, 2012 at approximately 11:25 P.M. Kentucky State Police Trooper Justin Rountree responded to an injury collision on Old Dixie Road approximately 1.5 miles out of town of Horse Cave, KY. When Trooper Roundtree arrived on scene he discovered that a 1990 GMC Pickup had struck a tree. When Trooper Roundtree made contact with the driver, Phillip S. Dunagan (25) of Horse Cave, fled on foot.
After a short foot chase ensued the subject was detained until EMS arrival. Upon EMS arrival the subject was taken to Caverna Memorial Hospital where he was transferred to University of Louisville hospital by air methods.
The passenger of the vehicle Brandon K. Adams (26) of Horse Cave was taken to Caverna Memorial Hospital due to injuries from the collision and later transported to UofL.
According to Trooper Rountree the vehicle that was operated by Phillip S. Dunagan was traveling eastbound on Old Dixie Rd. when for an unknown reason he veered off the roadway and struck a fencerow. It appears that upon impact the driver who was unbelted was partially ejected out of the windshield.
The passenger Brandon K. Adams who was belted remained in the vehicle during the collision. After the collision was over the passenger, exited the vehicle and assisted Mr. Dunagan the rest of the way out of the windshield.
Mr. Adams was cited to court for Disorderly Conduct 2nd and Alcohol Intoxication. Charges for Mr. Dunagan will be obtained upon his release from the hospital.
At this time Mr. Dunagan is at the University of Louisville hospital and listed in fair condition. Mr. Adams is also at the University of Louisville Hospital listed in stable condition with non- life threatening injuries. KSP was assisted on scene by Hart County EMS, Horse Cave Fire Departmentt, and Alvey's Towing. Trooper Justin Rountree is working the collision and was assisted by Trooper Jeremy Smith.
