Tractor-Trailer Fire Shuts Down I 65 for 10 Hours

(Horse Cave, KY) -- On Saturday, October 27, 2012, Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to I 65 south regarding a commercial motor vehicle that had pulled off the right hand shoulder of the roadway due to the trailer being on fire.

According to Trooper Joel Huff, Jarvis M. Washington (26) of Madison, TN, advised that his trailer had a tire to malfunction which caused a spark that ignited his trailer that was carrying hazardous materials. Mr. Washington was able to disengage the tractor from the trailer.

The investigation is still ongoing and is being conducted by Trooper Joel Huff. Tpr. Huff was assisted on scene by Troopers Ronnie Reyonlds and Jonathan Biven, Horse Cave, Park City, and Cave City Fire Departments, Hart County, Barren County, and Kentucky Emergency Management, and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
