Indiana Man Arrested After Pursuit on I-65

(Bowling Green, KY.) -- On Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. (CST) Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green, received a call regarding a reckless driver on I-65. Trooper Ronnie Reynolds observed a 2002 Saturn passenger car traveling south on I-65 in a reckless manner. Trooper Reynolds initiated a traffic stop on a 2002 Saturn passenger car. The operator failed to stop when Trooper Reynolds activated his emergency equipment and continued to drive south on I-65. The operator then exited off the interstate at the Horse Cave interchange then got back onto I-65. The pursuit continued south on I-65 before the violator came to a stop at the 53 mile point on I-65 in Barren County.

The operator Donovan Sheffield (20) of Sellersburg, IN was taken into custody. While in custody the operator kicked out the back window of Trooper Reynolds' cruiser. The operator was transported to the Hart County Jail.

Mr. Sheffield was charged with Speeding, Reckless Driving, Disregarding a Stop Sign, DUI 1st, Two Counts Menacing, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, Five Counts of Wanton Endangerment, Seven Counts of Resisting Arrest, Escape 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd, Two Counts of Assault 3rd Degree Police Officer.

The Investigation is still ongoing and is being led by Trooper Ronnie Reynolds.
