One Killed in a Collision on I-65

Date of News Release: 04/04/2012

(Bowling Green, Ky.) - On April 03, 2012, at approximately 3:56 pm Kentucky State Police Post 03 was notified of a one car collision with injuries on Interstate 65 at the 51 mile marker southbound.

Trooper James Newkirk's preliminary investigation indicates that a 1992 Ford truck being operated by Roberta J. Williams (45) of Cave City, KY, was traveling southbound on Interstate 65 when she veered into the left lane and overcorrected. Ms. Williams' vehicle then exited the southbound shoulder of the interstate, struck a rock embankment, and overturned.

The passenger in the vehicle, James Williams (45) of Cave City, KY, was ejected from the vehicle. Mr. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barren County Coroner. Ms. Williams was airlifted to the University of Louisville Medical Center where she is listed in stable condition.

Neither of the occupants in this vehicle were wearing seat belts.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this accident.

Trooper Chris Newkirk is leading this ongoing investigation.
