Single Vehicle Injury Collision Involving DUI

Hanson, KY. (Hopkins County) -- The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that involved an impaired driver. The collision occurred on Givens Road, approximately 2 miles east of Hanson, on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 2:25 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Tyler W. Morgan, age 20 of Earlington, KY, was operating a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck eastbound on Givens Road when the passenger side tires dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Morgan overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. It exited the left shoulder of the roadway and overturned, coming to rest on its top.
Mr. Morgan, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported via police vehicle to Baptist Health Madisonville where he was treated and released. Mr. Morgan was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail and charged with the following offenses:
- DUI Under 21
- Operating on a Suspended or Revoked License
- Possessing License When Privileges are Revoked
- Driving Without License/Negligence in Accident
- Failure to Notify DOT of Address Change
- Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, 1st Offense
Trooper Nick Rice investigated the collision. Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
