Deputy Sheriff's Cruiser Strikes Deer

Dixon, KY. (Webster County) -- The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on KY 132, approximately three miles east of Dixon, on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 5:45 p.m.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Webster County Deputy Sheriff, Roy Starkey, age 45 of Providence, KY, was operating a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria eastbound on KY 132. Deputy Starkey was on patrol. While traveling eastbound, a deer entered the roadway. The cruiser struck and killed the deer.
Deputy Starkey was transported via ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville where he was treated and released. He was wearing a seatbelt.
Trooper Jonathan Carlock conducted the investigation. The Webster County Sheriff�s Department and Webster County EMS assisted at the scene.
