Single-Vehicle Injury Collision on KY 672

Princeton, KY. (Caldwell County) The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle injury collision that occurred on KY 672, approximately six miles west of Princeton, on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 6:20 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Michael H. Phebus, age 25 of Dawson Springs, KY, was operating a 2000 GMC Sierra pickup truck eastbound on KY 672 when his vehicle struck a patch of ice on the roadway causing him to lose control.

The truck exited off the right side of the roadway. Mr. Phebus overcorrected and crossed both lanes. It exited the roadway and traveled into a ditch. The front of the truck struck the ground causing it to overturn onto its top. It came to rest on its top in a ditch off the westbound side of the road.

Mr. Phebus was given a ride by a passerby to Dawson Springs where he was treated by Medical Center Ambulance Service and then transported via ambulance to Baptist Health Hospital. Mr. Phebus was not wearing a seatbelt.

Trooper First Class John Komar investigated the collision. The Dawson Springs Police Department and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted.
