Injury Collision on US 60 in Crittenden County

Marion, KY. (Crittenden County) The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle injury collision that occurred on US 60, approximately nine miles east of Marion (Rosebud Hill), on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 10:15 a.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed that John K. Elliott, age 58 of Louisville, KY, was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck eastbound on US 60 when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle exited the right side of the roadway and struck an earth embankment. It overturned and came to rest on its top. Mr. Elliott had to be extricated from his vehicle by mechanical means.

Mr. Elliott, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported via ambulance to the Crittenden County Hospital for treatment of multiple injuries. There were no passengers.

Trooper First Class Darron Holliman conducted the investigation. The Crittenden County Sheriff's Department, Mattoon Volunteer Fire Department, Crittenden County EMS, Crittenden County Rescue and the State Highway Department assisted at the scene.
