Hopkinsville Man Arrested for Trafficking in Marijuana Over 5 Pounds

Nortonville, KY. (Hopkins County) – A Kentucky State Police Trooper arrested a Hopkinsville man on a trafficking marijuana charge during a traffic stop.
On Sunday, September 16, 2012, at approximately 6:49 p.m., Trooper Ryan Fox conducted a traffic stop at the 33 mile-marker on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway. During the traffic stop, it was discovered that the driver had an outstanding warrant for their arrest. While Trooper Fox attempted to identify a passenger in the vehicle, he detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the area where the passenger was sitting. A search of the area produced approximately 13.5 pounds of marijuana.
Arrested was Edgar U. Garay-Munoz, age 18 of Hopkinsville, KY. Mr. Garay-Munoz was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail and charged with the following offense:
- Trafficking in Marijuana < 5 Pounds – C Felony
The driver, Marilyn H. Rivera, age 28 of Henderson, KY, was arrested by Trooper Jonathan Carlock and charged with execution of warrant for other agency. She was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
Sergeant Chris Armbrust, Trooper Jeff Ayres, Trooper Cody Kromer, and Trooper Luis Palmer assisted.
