Lewisburg Man Killed in a Motorcycle Collision in Todd County

Elkton, KY. (Todd County) – The Kentucky State Police is investigating a two-vehicle fatality collision that occurred on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 6:15 a.m. It occurred at the intersection of KY 181 and KY 848 approximately 3 miles south of Elkton.
Preliminary investigation reveals that Paul M. Hedge, age 42 of Trenton, KY, was operating a 2007 GMC Yukon eastbound on KY 848. Roger D. Markwell, age 52 of Lewisburg, KY, was operating a 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle southbound on KY 181. Mr. Hedge had stopped at the intersection to make a left turn onto KY 181. Mr. Hedge did not see the motorcycle approaching and turned into its path of travel. The two vehicles collided at the intersection.
Mr. Markwell was ejected from the motorcycle. Todd County Coroner Bob Whittlesey pronounced Mr. Markwell dead at the scene. Mr. Markwell was wearing a helmet. Mr. Hedge was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. There were no passengers involved.
Trooper Michael Dennis is continuing the investigation. Sgt. Matt Jordan, the Todd County Sheriff's Department, Todd County Fire & Rescue, Todd County EMS, and the Todd County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
