Date of News Release: 08/19/2012

(Madisonville, KY.) Mrs. Diana Allen was operating a 2008 Volkswagen passenger car and was traveling west on US 68. Mr. Stephen Lee was operating a 2005 U-Haul truck and was traveling east on US 68. As Mrs. Allen approached the intersection of US 68 and KY 181, Mrs. Allen attempted to make a left hand turn onto KY 181 south, toward Elkton. Mrs. Allen failed to see Mr. Lee's vehicle and pulled into the path of Mr. Lee. Mr. Lee's vehicle struck the Volkswagen passenger car on the passenger side of the vehicle. After the initial impact, both Mrs. Allen's vehicle and Mr. Lee's vehicle came to final rest in a ditch on the south side of US 68 East.

Mrs. Allen and one passenger (Amanda Traughber) from Mrs. Allen's vehicle were airlifted to Vanderbilt, one by Air Evac, and the other by LifeFlight. The other passengers in Mrs. Allen's vehicle were two juveniles and an adult. The adult refused treatment at the scene and the two juveniles were transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of unknown injuries. Mr. Lee was not injured. The crash is still under investigation by Trooper Jeff Ayres, Unit 268. Trooper Ayres was assisted at the scene by Elkton P.D. and Todd County Rescue.
