Stats from Post 2 for June 2012

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- For the month of June 2012, Post 2 reports the following activity:

  • Arrested 32 Impaired Drivers
  • Issued a Total of 1,867 Citations
  • Issued 518 Speeding Citations
  • Issued 205 Seatbelt Citations
  • Issued 16 Child Restraint Citations
  • Issued 593 Courtesy Notices
  • Investigated 77 Traffic Crashes
  • Assisted 229 Stranded Motorists
  • Responded to 940 Calls for Service
  • Opened 46 Criminal Cases
  • Made 309 Criminal Arrests

**There were two fatal crashes that resulted in the loss of two lives reported in the Post 2 District in June 2012. The fatalities occurred in Caldwell and Todd Counties. Both victims were not wearing a seatbelt.

Through June 30, 2012, there have been fourteen (14) fatal crashes that resulted in the loss of fourteen (14) lives reported in the Post 2 District: eight (8) victims were not wearing seatbelts, four (4) victims were wearing seatbelts, one (1) victim was not wearing a helmet, and one (1) victim was wearing a helmet.

Through June 30, 2011, 9 people had been killed in 9 crashes in the Post 2 District.

Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555. Callers may remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel, and license number if possible.

Throughout the month, troopers from the Madisonville Kentucky State Police Post will conduct traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 2 District. At these checkpoints, troopers will be targeting impaired drivers, checking for properly restrained adults and children and observing for any other violations. Post 2 serves the following counties: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Webster.

**These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
