Single-Vehicle, Non-Injury Collision Involving Tractor-Trailer

Date of News Release: 06/12/2012

Princeton, KY. (Caldwell County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, non-injury collision that occurred on Interstate 69 (formerly the Western Kentucky Parkway), approximately six miles west of Princeton, on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at approximately 6:35 a.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Kenneth B. Hopper, age 63 of Oran, MO., was operating a 2012 Volvo tractor-trailer southbound on Interstate 69 when it appears that he fell asleep. The tractor-trailer exited the right shoulder of the roadway and struck an earth embankment. It overturned and came to rest on its passenger side off the roadway.

Mr. Hopper, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. There were no passengers. Mr. Hopper was cited for log book violations.

The tractor-trailer was hauling eggs. At the present time, the southbound driving lane (right lane) remains closed as the cleanup continues.

Trooper First Class Chris King conducted the investigation. The Princeton Fire Department, the State Highway Department, the State Health Inspector, and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) assisted at the scene.
