Hopkins County Two Vehicle Injury Collision

Madisonville, KY. (Hopkins County) – The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury collision that occurred on the Pennyrile Parkway, approximately two miles south of Madisonville, on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at approximately 6:21 p.m.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Jessica L. Bailey, age 28 of Madisonville, KY, was operating a 2002 Oldsmobile passenger car northbound on the Pennyrile Parkway traveling in the left lane. Jerry W. Durban, age 69 of Clay, KY, was operating a 2010 Ford pickup truck northbound on the Pennyrile Parkway traveling in the right lane. Mr. Durban was hauling a trailer.
As Ms. Bailey entered the right lane, her vehicle made contact with the back of Mr. Durban's trailer. Ms. Bailey lost control of her vehicle and it entered the median. It struck a guardrail and continued northbound in the median. Her vehicle came to rest facing northbound in the median. Mr. Durban was able to maintain control of his vehicle and stopped on the shoulder of the roadway.
Ms. Bailey was transported via ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment. Mr. Durban and his passengers, Becky Durban, age 60 of Clay, KY, and Connor Durban, age 12 of Clay, KY, were not injured. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.
Trooper Jon McGehee conducted the investigation. Trooper Bob Winters, KSP CVE Officer Jon Hibbs, the Grapevine Volunteer Fire Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
