Single-Vehicle Injury Collision Involving Motorcycle

Hopkinsville, KY. (Christian County) The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle injury collision involving a motorcycle that occurred on the Pennyrile Parkway/Interstate 24 eastbound on ramp (81 mile-marker) on Monday, May 28, 2012 at approximately 6:35 p.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Gary T. Osborne, age 60 of Chapmansboro, TN, was operating a 1986 Honda GL1200 motorcycle on the Pennyrile Parkway when he attempted to merge onto Interstate 24 eastbound. Mr. Osborne failed to negotiate a right turn at the bottom of the ramp. The motorcycle entered a ditch off the left shoulder of the roadway. It crossed both eastbound lanes and entered the median. The motorcycle overturned several times ejecting Mr. Osborne.

Mr. Osborne was flown from the scene to the Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment. He was not wearing a helmet.

Trooper Ryan Fox conducted the investigation. Sergeant Jason Newby, Trooper Luis Palmer, the Christian County Sheriff's Department, the Oak Grove Police Department, Oak Grove Fire & Rescue, Hopkinsville Fire & Rescue, Christian County Ambulance Service, and Vanderbilt Air Evac assisted at the scene.
