Drugs Shipped Via UPS Leads to the Arrest of Two

Items confiscated during the drug investigation

Madisonville, KY. (Hopkins County) On Thursday, April 26, 2012, Kentucky State Police conducted an investigation of suspicious packages that had arrived at the UPS terminal in Madisonville, KY. After obtaining search warrants for the packages, it was discovered that the packages contained a large quantity of marijuana.

A search warrant for two separate locations, 421 West Center Street and 1998 Lindon Drive, both in Madisonville, KY, was obtained. Upon execution of the search warrants, more marijuana was located inside the residence at 421 West Center Street. A total of 53 pounds of marijuana and $1,200 in cash were seized.

The investigation led to the arrest of Kevin B. Sharp, age 28, and Kristen E. Casey, age 26, both of Madisonville, KY. Both Mr. Sharp and Mr. Casey were lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center and both were charged with Trafficking in Marijuana Over 5 Pounds, 1st Offense.

Detective Carlo Anderson and Detective Brandon McPherson conducted the investigation. They were assisted by Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations West, D.E.A., Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force, and Madisonville Police Department.
