Two-Vehicle Injury Collision in Hopkins County

Earlington, KY. (Hopkins County) –- The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury collision that occurred at the intersection of KY 2171 and Sandcut Road, approximately two miles east of Earlington, on Monday, April 9, 2012 at approximately 7:20 a.m.
Preliminary investigation reveals that Samuel W. Dillingham, age 40 of Madisonville, KY, was operating a 1999 Ford Expedition. He was stopped at a stop sign on Sandcut Road facing south. Karen E. Wilkey, age 34 of Madisonville, KY, was operating a 2011 Toyota Sienna eastbound on KY 2171 approaching the intersection with Sandcut Road.
Mr. Dillingham did not see Ms. Wilkey's vehicle approaching and pulled into the intersection. The two vehicles collided at the intersection. Mr. Dillingham, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. Ms. Wilkey and her two passengers, Brett Wilkey, age 6, and Katherine Wilkey, age 3, were transported via ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment. Ms. Wilkey and Brett Wilkey were wearing seatbelts. Katherine Wilkey was restrained in a child safety seat.
Trooper First Class John Komar investigated the collision. The Earlington Volunteer Fire Department, the Grapevine Volunteer Fire Department, and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
