Officer Involved Shooting in Todd County

Elkton, KY. (Todd County) -- The Kentucky State Police is investigating a shooting involving officers from the KSP and the Todd County Sheriff's Department.
On Saturday, March 10, 2012, at approximately 11:01 p.m., Troopers Jeff Ayres and Ben Cox, along with Todd County Sheriff Joey Johnson and Todd County Deputy Sheriff Patrick Turner, responded to a domestic disturbance at 797 Collier Springs Road, Elkton. Upon arrival, a male subject identified as Jeffrey Anderson, age 27 of Elkton, KY, came out onto the front porch of the residence armed with a shotgun and a handgun. Mr. Anderson then fired shots at the responding officers. The officers returned fire striking Mr. Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was transported by ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, KY where he succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy is scheduled for today (Sunday, March 11) at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville.
No officers were injured. Trooper Ayres and Trooper Cox have been placed on paid, administrative leave pursuant to Kentucky State Police Policy. The investigation is continuing by the KSP.
The Todd County Sheriff's Department, Todd County EMS, and the Christian County Coroner's Office assisted.
