Single Vehicle Injury Collision on I-24

Date of News Release: 01/26/2012

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Kelly L. Unger, age 29 of Pembroke, KY, was operating a 2008 Dodge Caliber eastbound on I-24 at approximately the 91 mile-marker when her vehicle experienced a tire malfunction.

The left, rear tire of the vehicle "blew out" causing her to loose control. The vehicle exited off the right shoulder of the roadway and struck an embankment which caused it to overturn. The vehicle came to rest in a ditch on its driver's side.

Ms. Unger and her passenger, Jonathan L. Unger, age 5 of Pembroke, KY, were transported via ambulance to the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital for treatment. Ms. Unger was wearing a seatbelt and the child was restrained in a booster seat.

Trooper Michael Dennis investigated the crash that occurred on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 8:03 a.m. Trooper Mike Manzanares, the Oak Grove Police Department, Oak Grove EMS, and the Christian County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
