KSP Post 1 "Cram the Cruiser"

(Hickory, KY.) – The Kentucky State Police "Cram the Cruiser" went mobile this week and collected 3,800 pounds of food. On Monday, December 3, 2012, KSP was at the Food Giant, located in Eddyville, KY and collected 2,000 pounds of food. All of the food collected at the Food Giant was delivered to the Lyon County Food Bank. On Tuesday, December 4, 2012, KSP was at the Kroger Supermarket, located in Murray, KY and collected 1, 800 pounds of food. All of the food collected at Kroger was delivered to the Murray Calloway County Need Line.
"Cram the Cruiser" will extend through December 14, 2012 and is designed to collect non-perishable food items. All food collected will be distributed, in the post 1 area, to local organizations serving those in need during the holiday season.
KSP has placed a marked cruiser at the entrance to Post 1, located at 8366 State Route 45 North, Hickory, KY for anyone wishing to make a donation. The Papa John's stores located in McCracken County have also teamed up with KSP on the food drive. The store locations in Lone Oak and Clark's River Road are accepting non-perishable food items, as well as their delivery drivers.
Food collection sites have been established at all 16 posts throughout the state and at the Headquarters location in Frankfort. Last year KSP collected 50,931 pounds of food.
