(Hickory, KY) – The Kentucky State Police escorted the National Capitol Christmas tree through Kentucky on Monday, November 19, 2012. The Christmas tree, an Engelmann Spruce, was harvested in Meeker, Colorado on November 2, 2012. The tree stands 74 feet tall, and has a span of approximately 25 feet. The 74 year old tree is on a three week, cross country, journey from Colorado to Washington D.C. where it will be put on the Capitol Lawn for display.

KSP Troopers escorted the tree to the Tennessee state line, where the Tennessee Highway Patrol took the lead of the convoy.
