Two Injured in a Vehicle Collision on KY 129

Date of News Release: 09/23/2012

(Hickory, KY.) - On 09/22/2012 at 1:43 pm, KSP Post 1 received a report of a single vehicle collision with fire and entrapment. The driver and passenger were freed by three citizens who stopped to check on the collision. Kentucky State Police arrived shortly after the occupants of the vehicle were freed. The driver and passenger were both transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center by Mayfield/Graves County Ambulance. The driver was treated and released. The passenger was admitted to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for injuries sustained during the collision.

According to preliminary investigation, the vehicle was northbound on KY 129 when the passenger side tires left the right side of the roadway. The operator then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to lose control, rotate counter-clockwise, and exit the left side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree on the passenger side, coming to final rest on the tree and catching fire. The vehicle and all of its contents were totally destroyed by the fire. Wingo Fire Department and Graves County Sheriff's Department assisted the Kentucky State Police on scene. The collision is being investigated by Trooper Jody Cash.
