Marshall County Holiday Activity

(Hickory, KY) – The Kentucky State Police recently partnered with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, Benton Police Department, and Calvert City Police Department in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” national campaign. Over the holiday weekend (August 31- September 3rd) officers conducted speed enforcement details, saturation patrols, numerous traffic safety checkpoints. KSP Troopers made the following citations and arrests during the effort:

  • Total Citations: 70
  • Speeding Violations: 27
  • Seat Belt Violations: 1
  • Child Restraint Violations: 1
  • Other Traffic Citations: 27
  • Criminal Arrests (see below): 14
  • Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree (meth): 2
  • Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree (other): 1
  • Possession of Controlled Substance-2nd Degree (pills): 1
  • Possession of Controlled Substance-3rd Degree (pills): 1
  • Possession of Marijuana: 1
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: 3
  • Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon: 1
  • Receiving Stolen Property: 1
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence: 1
  • Service of Other Agency Warrants (fugitives): 2

This was a very successful campaign in Marshall County, which was a county targeted for special enforcement emphasis by KSP, due to crash statistics during 2011. As a result, no vehicle involved fatalities occurred in Marshall County during this holiday weekend, and no fatalities occurred in the entire Post 1 district during this holiday period. Kentucky State Police, Post 1, covers the 11 counties of Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken, and Trigg.
