DUI and Drug Arrest in Marshall County

(Aurora, KY) - A Murray man faces DUI and drug charges following an arrest late Sunday. Just before midnight on July 1st, the Kentucky State Police conducted a traffic safety checkpoint on US 68 on the west end of the Egner's Ferry Bridge in Marshall County. During the checkpoint, a Trooper observed an open beer can in one of the vehicles passing through. The operator, 32-year-old William Morris, was questioned about the open container and was determined to be driving under the influence. While placing Morris under arrest, Troopers located a white substance in Morris's vehicle which field tested positive for cocaine. Morris was charged with having an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle, no insurance, and possession of a controlled substance. Morris was lodged at the Marshall County Detention Center. The investigation continues by Trooper Michael Robichaud with the Kentucky State Police.
